January 2027 — Clearing the Inner Clutter
A new year invites fresh possibilities, yet it can be difficult to hear what is calling when our inner world feels crowded. Unfinished commitments, familiar worries, old expectations, and the needs of others can leave little room for our own wisdom. In this gathering, we will explore what inner clutter looks like and how to recognize what is asking for our attention. Through guided reflection, we will consider what still matters, what needs a different relationship, and what we may be ready to release.
A gentle meditation will offer space to settle the mental noise and reconnect with a sense of inner spaciousness. You will have time to identify one area of your life where a small change could create more breathing room. We will also listen for what you would like to welcome into the space you are creating. Begin the year with a compassionate pause and a clearer sense of what deserves your energy now.
What is Awaken Beyond Limits?
Awaken Beyond Limits is a monthly gathering for people who enjoy exploring spiritual subjects and discovering how those teachings connect with their own lives. If you are curious about sacred symbols, the soul, spiritual traditions, or new ways to deepen your practice, you are welcome here.
Each 90-minute class on Zoom centers on a different topic, bringing together teaching, guided meditation or an experiential practice, and time for reflection and questions. Some evenings introduce a spiritual story, symbol, or teaching you may never have encountered. Others invite you to revisit familiar ideas and explore them more personally.
You can expect something to learn, something to experience, and questions to carry into your everyday life. You do not need prior knowledge of the topic or a particular spiritual background to participate. Bring your curiosity, a notebook, and a willingness to explore.
Attend an individual class that interests you or return each month for continued discovery. Classes are $25 each and are included in Circle of Light membership.
More 2027 Topics
February 2027 — The Many Dimensions of the Soul
Exploring the Soul, Oversoul, and Our Greater Spiritual Identity
Who are we beyond the personality, roles, and experiences of this lifetime? This gathering invites you to explore the soul, oversoul, higher self, and monad through selected teachings of Joshua David Stone. We will introduce these terms in accessible language and consider how they relate within his spiritual framework. Using a tree as a teaching metaphor, we will explore the relationship between individual soul expressions and a more encompassing spiritual identity.
Together, we will consider what these ideas suggest about connection, spiritual growth, and our experience of being human. A guided meditation will invite you to reflect on your relationship with your own deeper spiritual nature. There will be space for questions and personal reflection, whether these teachings are familiar or entirely new to you. Come explore a wider understanding of who you may be and what it could mean to live with greater awareness of that connection.
March 2027 — The Rose as a Sacred Symbol
Exploring Love, Devotion, and the Divine Feminine
The rose offers a rich doorway into spiritual symbolism through its beauty, fragrance, unfolding petals, and protective thorns. In this gathering, we will explore its place in selected spiritual traditions and its associations with love, devotion, mystery, and the Divine Feminine. We will consider how the meanings of the rose differ across settings while noticing the questions its imagery opens for us. Its bud, blossom, and fading petals will provide starting points for reflecting on different seasons of spiritual life.
We will also explore the thorns as a contemporary symbol for the boundaries that can accompany an open heart. A guided rose meditation will invite you to connect with the imagery in your own way. Through journaling and discussion, you can reflect on what the rose evokes about your relationship with yourself and the sacred. Join us for an exploration that brings learning, contemplation, and the beauty of the rose into your spiritual practice.
April 2027 — Letting Your Spiritual Practice Evolve
Rediscovering Meaning, Connection, and Wonder
Sometimes a spiritual practice that once felt nourishing begins to feel routine, distant, or difficult to connect with. This gathering offers space to explore what may be changing and what could bring fresh meaning to your practice. We will look beneath the activity itself to consider whether you are seeking guidance, stillness, devotion, creativity, or a deeper sense of connection. Together, we will explore the balance between giving a practice time to deepen and allowing it to adapt as your life changes.
Through a simple experiential exercise, you will try a fresh approach and notice what it opens for you. You will also have time to reflect on a familiar practice and identify one small adjustment you would like to explore. Whether you work with meditation, journaling, oracle cards, or another form of spiritual connection, you are welcome to bring your curiosity. Come rediscover ways of practicing that feel meaningful, engaging, and responsive to who you are now.
May 2027 — The Goddess as Teacher: Airmed
Healing Plants, Sacred Knowledge, and the Wisdom of Nature
Meet Airmed, a healing figure of Irish mythology whose story brings together plants, loss, and precious knowledge. We will explore her appearance in the traditional narrative of the Second Battle of Mag Tuired and the herbs that grow over her brother’s grave. As Airmed gathers and arranges these plants, her story raises questions about how knowledge is recognized, preserved, and disrupted. We will learn about the story in its Irish setting before considering the personal meanings it may hold for us today.
A guided garden visualization will invite you to reflect on your relationship with nature and the wisdom you wish to tend. There will be time for journaling about what nourishes you and what you feel called to remember or protect. Our focus will be on mythology and spiritual reflection, rather than instruction in herbal treatments. Join us to discover a less familiar sacred figure and explore the questions her story brings to your own path.
June 2027 — The Sun in Spiritual Symbolism
Illumination, Renewal, and the Sacred Light of Life
As summer begins, we will explore the sun as a spiritual symbol through selected stories, images, and traditions. Our journey will include ancient Egyptian understandings of the sun’s daily passage and the imagery of renewal associated with its return. We will also meet Amaterasu, the Japanese sun goddess, through the story of her withdrawal into a cave and eventual emergence. Each tradition will be introduced in its own setting, allowing us to appreciate its distinctive understanding of sacred light.
Together, we will reflect on what dawn, full daylight, and sunset can evoke about beginnings, expression, and completion. A guided meditation will follow an imagined sun through these stages, offering space to notice your own responses. Journaling and discussion will invite you to consider what brings clarity and vitality into your life. Come welcome the season through an exploration of solar symbolism and your personal relationship with light.
July 2027 — The Spiritual Symbolism of Birds
A bird in flight can stir wonder and invite questions about freedom, connection, and the worlds beyond our everyday view. In this gathering, we will explore selected birds and their roles in spiritual stories, sacred imagery, and symbolism. We will look at how particular traditions have portrayed birds as messengers, guardians, or images associated with the soul. Rather than assigning every bird one fixed meaning, we will consider how cultural context and personal experience shape interpretation.
Through close observation of images and stories, you will practice noticing what draws your attention before reaching for an explanation. A guided visualization will offer a personal encounter with bird imagery and space to explore what it evokes. You will have time to record impressions and consider how an ordinary moment in nature can become an invitation to deeper attention. Join us to discover how the symbolism of birds can enrich contemplation and renew your sense of wonder.
August 2027 — The Sacred Well
Water, Depth, and Renewal
A well draws water from a source beneath the surface, offering a powerful image for spiritual nourishment. This gathering explores selected well and spring traditions, including stories and practices associated with sacred water. We will consider how people have approached these places through pilgrimage, offerings, and acts of devotion. Alongside this learning, we will reflect on the well as a contemporary metaphor for the resources we draw upon within ourselves.
What replenishes you, and how do you recognize when your reserves need attention? A guided journey to an imagined sacred well will create space for quiet listening and personal reflection. Through journaling and discussion, you will identify a source of nourishment you would like to tend more intentionally. Come explore the relationship between sacred place, inner depth, and the ways we receive renewal.
September 2027 — The Goddess as Teacher: Seshat
Sacred Writing and the Wisdom We Preserve
Meet Seshat, the ancient Egyptian goddess associated with writing, knowledge, and the keeping of records. In this gathering, we will explore her traditional roles and distinctive imagery through selected examples of Egyptian art. We will consider why recording and preserving knowledge could hold sacred significance. From that foundation, we will turn toward the experiences and insights in our own lives that deserve attention.
A guided reflection will invite you to recall something meaningful that you do not want to lose in the busyness of daily life. Through a contemporary intuitive-writing exercise, you will give that memory or understanding a place on the page. No writing experience is needed, and you may respond through simple words, a list, or imagery. Join us to learn about Seshat and explore writing as a personal practice of attention, remembrance, and discovery.
October 2027 — Sacred Thresholds
Doorways, Transitions, and the Space Between
A threshold marks the meeting of two spaces, inviting us to notice what changes when we cross. This gathering explores doorways, gates, and entrances as spiritual symbols through selected examples of sacred places and ceremonial passages. We will consider how preparation and intention can shape the experience of entering a sanctuary or beginning a practice. We will also introduce liminality, the experience of being between familiar ground and what has yet to take form.
Through reflection, you can consider a transition in your own life without needing to resolve it immediately. A guided doorway visualization will invite you to notice what you are leaving, what you wish to carry, and whether you feel ready to move. You will then explore a simple contemporary ritual for acknowledging a passage with care and intention. Come discover how threshold symbolism can deepen your relationship with change and the mystery of what comes next.
November 2027 — The Unseen Companion
Exploring Spiritual Guidance
What do we mean when we speak of spiritual guidance or a sense of unseen companionship? This gathering will introduce selected understandings of guides, guardian beings, and ancestral support while honoring the differences between them. We will explore how people describe these relationships and the practices they use to make space for spiritual connection. Together, we will consider the distinction between an experience, the interpretation we give it, and the choices we make afterward.
A guided contemplative practice will invite you to reflect on support and guidance in a way that respects your own beliefs. You may notice imagery, a feeling, a memory, or simply a quiet opportunity to listen, with no particular experience required. Journaling and discussion will offer space to consider what helps you approach guidance with openness and discernment. Join us for a thoughtful exploration of spiritual companionship and the forms of support that feel meaningful to you.
December 2027 — The Spiritual Symbolism of the Star
Against the darkness of the night sky, a star can become an image of direction, hope, or mystery. In our final gathering of the year, we will explore these possibilities through selected spiritual stories and sacred images. We will consider how particular traditions have understood stars in relation to guidance, divine presence, and the wider cosmos. Each example will offer its own perspective, giving us room to appreciate both differences and connections.
A guided night-sky meditation will invite you to pause beneath an imagined canopy of stars and reflect on what has guided you this year. Through journaling, you will identify a quality, relationship, or practice you wish to carry into the year ahead. There will also be space to honor questions that remain open and possibilities you are not yet ready to name. Close the year with an invitation to wonder and a more intentional relationship with the sources of light that orient your life.
